I couldn’t find a better title  

Met up with my ex-colleagues after sucha long time. There is only one still with the company and it was time to update us on the latest office goss! 

The married one at that time was going on her honeymoon to Italy and Switzerland. The almost married was telling us about her life as somebody’s fiance. The paint-woman showed us pics of her trip to Norway. The entrepeneur… well, she’s still as enterprising!

Here we are having dinner at Madam Kwan’s, Midvalley. 

My food represents me; I’m a big headed prawn. Ha! Ok. Stupik joke.

Triple H got this for us from Norway. Inside are 12 mini caramel filled wafers from Gouda’s Gilde. They are slightly crunchy but not too heavy on the caramel so it wasn’t too sweet. Tasted like light maple syrup. Just what we needed when we had our brew at Coffee Bean.

I think I’ve given him the impression that I’m a sad case. He told me that he got something for me. I didn’t think he’d bother since I only got to know him about two months ago through a mutual friend. But I ended up with a book (on cupcakes, what a big fat hint for me to bake more I guess) and a card! You know those cards that start off with…

I’m so upset. I’ve never felt so lost. I wished we could have done things differently. Maybe it would have changed if I’ve just given you my number. Maybe I could have visited you more often and you could tell me about your plans. We could have stayed in touch that way.

They lied to me. They didn’t want to tell me that you left.

But you did.

Nobody will ever run your fingers through my hair like you do…

Gawd dang. Is this normal reaction when your favourite hair stylist leaves the salon and you’ve no idea where’s she at now? Boo hoo :’(

Ended up, I got one of her ‘apprentices’ to do my hair. I don’t know why. Am not entirely happy. I know that if it was with her, it would have been all good. Sigh.

Janice! Where are you?

One night I asked myself, “what do you fear Audrey?” And I sat down and thought… and I couldn’t find an answer straight away. It had to be a quirky fear, incomprehendible to the masses.

“Was it cockroaches? Especially the ones that fly around the ceiling and when it hits the rotating ceiling fan you fear that it would smack it’s soft brown body and hairy legs on your face?”

“Well… yeah.. I fear that but it wouldn’t stop me if the best charcoal fire hokkien mee in Petaling Street is in a lorong with roaches…”

“How about other creepy crawlies… I’m sure you are afraid of ants!”

“I hate them but I wouldn’t stop myself from entering the kitchen or garden if there were ants.”

I bring this up because I wish I had  a quirky fear. I fear relationships. Does that count? (OK I admit, I have issues. Change topic.) And I know people with strange fears that I try to bring myself to understand. Maybe it is unfair to label them as “strange or quirky” but I have to because I will NEVER understand. Just like a friend who is afraid of fish scales, feathers and wings. I didn’t know to what extent on how fearful she is but we decided to test her reaction.

“Babes, since that place we wanted to go is closed… we’ve decided to go the bird sanctuary park. OK?”

In less than 2 miliseconds and more than 110 decibles

“Are you mad????” as her voice echos a thousand times

Ok. Got ya. That’s fear.

Then there’s this other friend of mine who doesn’t karaoke. Was it her pitch? Was it her monotonous voice? Was it that she was tone deaf? Or most shocking…. was she illiterate? She just doesn’t want to sing!

“Why won’t you go karaoke with us?”

“NEVER!”

“Why?!”

“I was traumatized as a teenager. I sat for my Grade 6 practical piano exam and I was asked to sing along the tune the examiner was playing. I thought I did well until I got my results. The examiner stated that I was out of tune and I did very badly. I will do anything BUT I WILL NOT KARAOKE!”

I decided to stop probing when I noticed how hard she was clenching her glass of wine. I sure didn’t want her to make a mess.

So, do you have a strange/quirky fear that would stop you from doing something? Or did you have one that you overcame?

5th April, 2007 

Was digging into my chicken katsu-don when G bugs me. “Come la, let’s go for the party.” No way! Thursday night and I was already clad comfortably in my sloppiest pair of jeans and SELIPAR. And I want to catch the 3rd episode of ‘My name is Earl.’ And sleep is very important.

“Come la come la.. you’ll be back by midnight. Promise.”

I felt like Cinderella already.

I finally agreed and rushed back home to get changed while G verbally abuses the driver who double parked behind her car. Never mess with a girl in the a Myvi. Seriously.

It was the BMW Sauber F1 Team Paddock Lounge party in KLCC which coincided with the KL Grand Prix on 6-8th April 2007.

We decided to check out the Pit Lane Park. And that was Chris Pffeifer in action.

The park has a miniature race track, mini grandstands, mock F1 training centre and garage. I know G really wanted to try out the mock pitstop exercise but to do it in a dress? We decided for something simpler like taking a quiz on a computer! LOL.

They also have an F1 training center where you can practice your driving assisted with computer simulation of the actual race.

And… after one round, we were thirsty and decided to head back to the lounge.

I didn’t know G took this picture. It’s pretty funny how we ditch our bags like that!

This is pretty much, HALF of the scene. Sigh. Subjected to heavy censorship. Haha.

G’s salivates all over the BMW 325i Convertible. One day, babes.. one fine day. At the mean time you can continue to drool.

So at the end of the day, we asked, who do you love? You can probably tell that I’m a narcissist. And G… she’s just desperately, insanely in love with the initials BMW.

Yalah, yalah shiok sendiri only at the showroom, a floor below the lounge.

Yes, had plenty of fun and met some (yummy) and interesting people. Oh, and G didn’t keep up to the promise of sending me back before midnight.

You thought that after many years of being together, you’d know a person. Unfortunately, it’s not always the case.

Change is inevitable and most often enough, we will learn to accept and encourage the transition of another person. If and only if… it is for the better.  But for some, it has come to the point that they have submerged themselves so deeply into a newer and more exciting lifestyle that they leave the person they were behind.

Are you happier now? Are you living a life you’ve always wanted? Or is that just a facade you put up to hide your fears and insecurities? Is this the image you’ve created to respond to the artificial love that surrounds you now?

I thought people were smarter than that. Guess I’ve already lost the person I once knew.

Reliving yet another crazy night.

I’m lucky because I have them…
