The latest update is, I finally have a gym partner! Spy finally join me at CF and she’s a great boot camp trainer motivator especially during those lazy after office nights. Y’know, it’s 9pm.. You want to just head home, be a couch potato and sleep but she’ll cheerlead you, “come on, come on.. we’ll go to the sauna right after, have a nice tall cool coke light after that..” Or, if you can’t make it, she’ll send you a SMS infused with hidden guilt, “oh.. doing the elliptical isn’t the same without you ” Bleh, silly grrl

Things to look forward to in coming months…

1) Ade’s wedding!

2) Christmas. Yes, this year I’ll continue with my gingerbread stars with glitter. Schnazzy!

3) Mili and Simon’s 2 days in KL. I don’t think 48 hours is enough but what the hell..

4) New year. I’ll be a year older Eep!

5) Phuket?

Oh.. noticed that change? I decided to capitalize my letters at the beginning of each sentence. Noticed how difficult it is to read with the new font and I think I should get into the habit of doing this. Have a great Tuesday!

what i remember most about ah-ma was her flawless spoken malay since she was a nonya (peranakan) and being so, she had the curves for a well-fitted kebaya. most say it’s just a generalization when one compliments grandma’s cooking, but i’m being truthful and genuine when i set praise to her home-cooked specialities. and yes, i’ll refrain from saying that all good qualities run in the family *giggles*

when it comes to peranakan food, nobody does it as well as grandma but we can’t be overtly critical. we decided to test and taste the set meals at the peranakan restaurant in one utama.

set meals are prepared for 2-3 or 4-5 persons. we ordered set A, enough for three of us. set A comprised of:

• pong teh chicken
• fish head curry
• ladies finger/okra with chili
• chinese melon and chicken soup

and for only RM 28++ (excluding rice and service/govt tax). we also ordered another dish from the menu – honey sotong.

ayam pongteh — three pieces of chicken and several pieces of potatoes in an onion based brown sauce. taste wise, i seriously think my mom does this better wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

they served us with a generous amount of fish head curry. the fish was fresh and the vegetables – long beans, brinjal and okra/ladies fingers weren’t overcooked. just the way i like them done. flood your rice with this sauce; that’s the way to enjoy curry!

honey sotong — it’s delicious! calamari/squid in batter, deep fried and cooked in a honey-sweet and slightly spicy sauce.

if you don’t like okra/ladies fingers, no matter which style it is cooked in, you’ll not like this slimy green furry vegetable at all (i might have just described a caterpillar). this is steamed or boiled okra/ladies fingers topped with blended red chili. not too bad, wasn’t crazy about the chili paste though.

all in all, food was good and their waitresses are so friendly! i think they might be nonyas i always like to believe that babas (males) and nonyas (females) are very friendly people which makes me… only 1/4 friendly. haa!

the peranakan restaurant in located on the first floor, leading towards the new block of one utama (same floor as watson’s). i am not too sure if the other branch in taman sea is still in operation.

i know i woke up at the break of dawn and not on my bed. mmm.. and i remember having green tea and the best indo-mie ever thanks sweets!

4am. my feet tired from dancing in stilletos. my voice coarse from all that shouting in the noisy room. my hair reek of cigarette smoke. i’m in a daze. i love this feeling.

we decided to catch up over dinner on friday night. it was good to just chill over tapas and have one of those conversations that start with, “i wish…”, “i want…”, “i should…” it was one of our mind-provoking sessions that takes a couple of minutes of detailed explanation which usually ends with the usual q, “do you get what i mean?” the worst part of it all is that sometimes even after thorough description, you might still not get what he is trying to convey. but because i’ve gotten used to his train of thoughts and i’m so smart (hee hee), his ideals are comprehendible.

on my part, after i could sense that i should perk up the night with something juicy, i started with, “i’m going to…” his eyes wide with attention and his dimpled grin revealed curiosity. “now that’s what i want to hear, spill it”.

after exposing my drrty li’l secret, he feedbacks with an unexpected, “you should go ahead.” i was prepared to have my kevlar vest on ready to be shot down with his critique but instead he lets me run off unharmed. my eyes twinkled and my close-lip smile hid my actual elation.

my friends are too cool!

the thing is, i keep bumping into her. at clubs. at the mall. at zara. and now she’s in the same gym. can die. i think i’m fated to either be more irritated by her looks or be acquainted. i prefer the latter. haha of course we don’t exchange hellos or look at each other’s directions because we’re insignificant to each other. i’m a stranger to her as she is to me  but the only difference is she doesn’t know i ‘realllllllllly cannot tahan’ her.

i just thought, i’m sure there’s someone out there who don’t know me but can’t stand the sight of me either. she (or he, but i can be quite sure it’s usually a SHE) only knows me by my first name. maybe where i go. or what i do. or who my friends are. but she perceives me as bad/sickening/nauseating/irritating/stupid therefore ‘hates’ me.

that would be so funny. let’s hold hands together and laugh.

have you ever experienced that pain? that one that causes you to have goosebumps all over your arms because you’re shivering in cold but you’re sweating at the same time? 

this is what i’m feeling right now but 100 times worst than what i’ve described. it must have been the claypot chicken rice that i had with my sis and b.i.l. except that they are perfectly fine. we’ve concluded that i’m just too sensitive! i woke up with terrible pain in my stomach at 5am on sunday. seriously, i would like to describe my stool but i think one sick person is enough for now (i’m gross but i’m real). i was practically bedridden the whole day (except that i did clean my vanity table, threw away tons of junk – can’t believe what i’ve been hoarding for years, finished up my penang trip blog and read up my charts). i slept for two hours in the evening and went to bed at 7am.

what’s worst is that i had a bad headache to accompany the excruciating pain in my stomach. i tried to overcome it by going to bed early but it didn’t work so in the end i had to resort to panadol

despite the pain (which i am still feeling it now), i got lots of rest and sleep; something luxurious i’ve been deprived of every weekend. naturally i’ll get a little irritated when my snooze is interrupted with messages at obscene hours. (pas vous) sometimes there are moments you just got to learn when to not be insensitive.

nah… the wedding was beautiful. a few hiccups here and there but otherwise, we had a blast. i’m truly happy to be a part of this magical ceremony despite being bossed around by bridezilla (note: my efforts were not unnoticed and we are still friends!). it’ll take me some time to post up pictures because there’re just too many of the perfect pair — mili and simon, the gorgeous MCs — sheryl and elvin and the cute bridesmaid —
