A Yee called Fish

China is doing their bit to improve their English come Olympic 2008 in Beijing.  Well, we’ve seen those forwarded emails of Chinese menus directly translated to English in restaurants. Makes you wonder if ‘Salty Egg King Steams the Vegetable Sponge’ is any good. How about a ‘Big bowl of fresh immerse miscellaneous germ’. I don’t know about you, but germs does sound pretty appetizing. Not forgetting, FRESH.

While it may seem a little far-fetched that such horrendous translations do exists, they actually DO exist. Daddy is in China staying at an American hotel chain. He emailed my sis and I a picture of a signage on the hotel manager on duty. His name is Mr Yee.

Yee is Fish in Chinese.

  1. LOL. Hehehehehe.

  2. he year year got fish mar

    so ‘fatt’ the name

  3. Eh… he’s copying that malaysian singer in taiwan lah. Her name is Leong Ching “Yu”, so her english name is “Fish Leong”, she sings nice songs, maybe he’s a huge fans of hers. 🙂

  4. LOL. My sis and I were laughing like mad ppl when we visited that blog with the translated menu! Thanks for making my day – I had not laughed that hard for awhile. (too sleepy usually)

  5. sourrain: yeah, dang kiasu

penangkia: yes, i know that singer. it was our ex-classmate’s idol. hehehe..

vonne: funny right? they really love cowboys over there! glad it made your day.
